About

At Social Sector Support, we understand the current challenges facing mission-driven organisations and how to use learning to support teams: bringing them closer and achieving results.

My name is Jenny...

I help people working in social sector organisations, feel supported, inspired and connected. Deeply curious, with a love of learning and knowledge sharing, I created Social Sector Support to help you achieve your goals faster.

Some Highlights

I've spent twenty years working in the charity and social sector, across a wide range of organisations, both large and small and an infrastructure charity. This experience matters, I understand that no two charities are alike, and that what works in one won't simply transplant to another.

My approach to L&D is grounded in both practice and evidence. I hold a City and Guilds Level 3 in Learning and Development and an MBA with a dissertation specialising in learning in the charity sector. This means I understand the links between people development and organisational performance, I've researched it, tested it, and seen it play out in organisations like yours.

Previously I created and implemented a strategic learning programme across 125 volunteers and employees, successfully navigating massive change. I've led sector-wide learning for charities in Derbyshire, and delivered learning sessions regionally for the National Trust.

I bring both senior leader and programme management experience, I excel at both setting strategy and implementing it. I build relationships, collaborate and offer long-term support in order to bring real results.

My Why

I LOVE the social sector.

I firmly believe that it has a huge role to play in making the world a fairer and kinder place. It provides an opportunity for us all to make a difference to the world, a chance to choose, every single day what kind of world we want to be in and build for the future. The traditional shape of our society with divisions between state and corporations leaves an enormous gap for individuals and communities. Community activity can often provide more specialised, more individual and more effective interventions for people. Community action can bring real change on topics overlooked by governments, or be effective in holding governments to account. We are part of a long tradition of change-makers and will continue to be so.

I am a UK citizen and lived in the UK for 40 years. I worked in social sector organisations in Sussex, Surrey and Derbyshire. In the summer of 2024 I moved my family to Austria to be closer to my husband's extended family.

This move left me with the challenge of how I could support the organisations I loved working with from 1000 miles away. How could I support the organisations which I knew needed support? And so, Social Sector Support was created to do just that.

I am still understanding how the Social Sector outside of the UK works, and have found some interesting differences and opportunities for learning which I share when relevant. However, the more I discover, the more I realise how universal social sector challenges are - whether you are working in Austria, Africa, America or the UK or anywhere in between. So don't let your location, or mine, be a barrier for partnering with me or joining us today.
